Overview

The World of Marty Stuart exhibit will debut at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson on Saturday, May 7, coinciding with the inaugural Mississippi Makers Fest, a music, food, and arts festival on the museum grounds.

The World of Marty Stuart exhibition showcases over 300 pieces of Stuart's own personal country music memorabilia, and will close on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

In the late 1960s in Philadelphia, Mississippi, nine-year-old Marty Stuart began playing country music and collecting memorabilia from the big stars' shows. A half century later, having reached his own stardom, Marty Stuart is partnering with the Two Mississippi Museums in an exhibition exploring his life and his legacy of collecting country music's stories, photographs, instruments, costumes, and more. The World of Marty Stuart will include hundreds of items never shown before in the state, including Marty's first guitar, original handwritten Hank Williams manuscripts, guitars from Merle Haggard and Pops Staples, costumes from Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton, personal items from Johnny Cash, including his first black performance suit, and much more.
