Overview
Tougaloo College and Mississippi for a Just World (MSJW) invites you to the next Voices for a Just World Lecture Series event: an evening with Professor. Angela Y. Davis, moderated by Dr. Ebony Lumumba at Tougaloo College. Doors open at 4:30 PM, and the program will run from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
This event will feature a moderated conversation centered on the themes of Professor Davis’s book Freedom Is a Constant Struggle. Together, we will explore the ongoing relationship between freedom struggles from the Deep South all the way to Palestine, Sudan, and Congo. We will reckon with what it means to organize for justice in the face of repression, state violence, and systems that depend on inequality. The conversation will reflect on how our movements must not only learn from each other but build meaningful and lasting solidarity in order to fight back against global systems of oppression.
This event will include:
A moderated discussion with Professor Angela Y. Davis and Dr. Ebony Lumumba
Book table hosted by Marshall's Music & Bookstore
Opportunities to connect with local organizers and educators
Free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and an RSVP is required to attend.
