Jackson, Mississippi 39201

Since 1978, the City of Jackson has operated the Arts Center of Mississippi as a shared home for the visual and performing arts. Housed alongside the McNair-Davis Planetarium in the heart of downtown, the Arts Center provides gallery, rehearsal, and event space to a roster of nonprofit arts organizations, including Ballet Mississippi, Opera Mississippi, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the International Museum of Muslim Cultures, the International Ballet Competition, and Arts for All.

The Arts Center hosts roughly sixteen exhibitions a year, many of them free and open to the public. Its Spotlight Series, launched in 2023, gives Mississippi artists from across the state a monthly opportunity to show new work, and each participating artist donates a piece to the City of Jackson's permanent art collection, which has grown continuously since 1926.

With 3,800 square feet of event rental space, wheelchair accessibility, on-site parking, and WiFi throughout, the Arts Center of Mississippi also serves as a downtown venue for private events and gatherings.
