Tour Like a Local: Cody Cox

From former teacher to musician and barista to baker, Cody Cox (along with wife, Molly West) are owners of Urban Foxes, the small batch bakery and coffee shop in Jackson’s Belhaven Heights neighborhood.

Here, food, family and community intertwine.

What do you think is the kept secret in Jackson?

The burger at Aladdin is the best kept secret in town. Get it as it comes or add some halloumi and extra Arabic pickles for a pro move. I love everything on the menu but even Aladdin regulars don't think about trying the burger. It is a standout for sure.

Best spot for a nightcap?

This one depends on what kind of night cap and vibe I’m in the mood for, so I will break the rules and give two. Fenian's is always a great spot for the classic neighborhood-y draft and a shot kind of spot. Also get a scotch egg if you can. As for a classic drink or to try stuff you can't really get anywhere else, I generally head to The Manship whisky menu. There is always something there that will challenge and excite.

Any recommendations for family fun in the city?

Our kiddo is just getting to the age to do those things and enjoy them, but we always have Lemuria on our list because they love books. We are so excited about the [LeFleur's Bluff Playground] development at the Mississippi Children’s Museum and we will be there as soon as we can! Ice cream at Sal and Mookie's is also always a good call.
