The City With Soul is celebrating its inaugural 601JXN Day, in this case, a weekend, June 1 – 4, 2023. The event is a collective celebration of the capital city, your city, 'MY CITY,' JXN, MS; North, South, East, and West.

The celebration will kick off with the first event Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, at Offbeat Jackson, located at 109 North State Street.

"In a sense, this isn’t a new idea," said Kim Lewis, Tourism and Destination Development Manager for Visit Jackson. "This city always has something going on. Live music, outdoor events and festivals, museum, and gallery openings. We can only hope that 601JXN Day will continue to grow each year and that our sense of community grows with it."

The weekend will be celebrated with new events, existing events, special promotions, and specially curated opportunities for engagement. Everyone is encouraged to use #601JXNDAY for social media posts.

"I'm thrilled to be standing here today," said Thabi Moyo, co-founder of Magnolia Sunset Markets. "Since our grand debut in 2021, we've been on a mission to celebrate this city and put the spotlight on its vibrant creative economy. So, let us drown out the negative narratives that often overshadow our achievements and instead amplify the voices of progress, creativity, and unity."

601JXN Day was created through partnerships and collaborations with Visit Jackson, Offbeat, Hal & Mal's, Magnolia Sunset Market, and JXN Run Club to connect people that live, work and play in the City With Soul.
