THE PRIOR 55

September 26, 2026 @ 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Overview

This is an award-winning stage play that had it's world premiere in NYC and is now amid an exciting 28-city tour. We are proud to say Jackson is our 5th stop on a beautiful trajectory of success and we are excited it will be performed in a unique and fitting space, in the rear courtyard of the historic Patton House & Gallery. This is unique because it is set outdoors in the south and for the first time and perhaps the only time, it will be performed outdoors, in the south.

Set in southeast Louisiana, Mahala, raised by her parrain, was an upwardly-mobil professional who, upon losing him, realized her life was not satisfying. Wanting to live by his principles, she became a psychiatric nurse. She encounters a panhandling musician and sets her sights on saving him. Never in a million years would either have believed that shared time one afternoon would provide needed looks in the mirror for them both, ironically revealing common needs, shared values, parallel stories and needed strengths, demonstrating the capability of and value in them saving each other.

A local favorite food truck plans to be on site for those who may want a great meal before or after the show. We also intend to have fresh popcorn and other snacks and refreshments available.

Note there are two performances time options on Saturday 9/26/26 and two on Sunday 9/27/26, at 2p and 6p, each of those days.
