Stranger Than Fiction Film Series: Stolen Kingdom

May 12, 2026 @ 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Overview

If Secret Mall Apartment left you fascinated by the fringes of what's possible inside public spaces, Stolen Kingdom takes that same energy somewhere darker. Directed by Joshua Bailey, the documentary dives into the world of Disney urban explorers — fans who trespass into abandoned and restricted areas like the shuttered River Country water park and closed Epcot attractions to document what's been left behind.

At the center of the story is the disappearance of Buzzy, the animatronic host of Cranium Command in Epcot's Wonders of Life pavilion — a figure valued at roughly half a million dollars. Through interviews with prominent figures in this tight-knit community, including Patrick Spikes, who was arrested and charged in connection with items stolen from Disney World, the film traces how passionate exploration quietly crossed into a black-market underground for stolen props.

Stolen Kingdom is a sharp, unsettling look at obsession, access, and what happens when fandom goes too far.
