Overview
Jorge Diez, a native of Medellin, Colombia, has served as Principal Clarinetist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 2024. He previously held the position of second clarinet with the Tuscaloosa Symphony.
Diez has performed across three continents and six countries, including the United States, Italy, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, and Panama. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Alabama Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Huntsville Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Simon Bolivar Symphony, and Medellin Philharmonic, and has worked with renowned conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Rafael Payares, Myung Whun Chung, Andres Orozco Estrada, and Krzysztof Penderecki.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Zulia Symphony Orchestra, Rafael Urdaneta Symphony Orchestra, Huxford Symphony, and Mississippi Symphony. His work in chamber music includes appearances at Bergamo International Music Festival, ClarinetFest, New World Festival, Magic City Clarinet Festival Birmingham, and Festival Musical de Antioquia.
Diez lives in Jackson, Mississippi, with his family and remains active in the local music community. He is a Selmer Paris and D Addario Woodwinds Artist.
