Overview
Music in the City welcomes Mississippi native and mezzo soprano Cecelia Stearman for an evening of music on Tuesday, October 6, beginning with a cash bar at 5:15 PM followed by the program at 5:45 PM. A graduate of Mississippi College, Stearman has built an international career spanning four continents, performing opera, oratorio, and recitals at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens. After spending 14 years living and performing in Germany and France, followed by time in St. Louis and New York City, she returned home to Mississippi, where she now teaches voice at Millsaps College and serves as Director of Music at Fondren Presbyterian Church. Stearman will be accompanied by Katie Rowan, Collaborative Pianist and Instructor of Piano at Belhaven University and organist and pianist at Fondren Presbyterian Church.
