Faith & Freedom

June 21, 2026 @ 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Overview

Faith & Freedom is an inaugural community celebration honoring the enduring role of faith, the Black Church, and the sounds from Mississippi that helped shape America's story. Held on Father's Day weekend and in observance of Juneteenth, this special gathering brings together churches, choirs, musicians, families, and community leaders for an evening of worship, inspiration, remembrance, and celebration.

The event will feature a special presentation of the MY CITY JXN.MS Impact Award to David R. Curry, Jr., in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Mississippi's musical heritage. As co-founder, songwriter, producer, and visionary leader of the Mississippi Mass Choir, Curry helped elevate Mississippi gospel music onto national and international stages, inspiring generations of singers, musicians, worship leaders, and congregations.

Faith & Freedom will also include musical tributes honoring Mississippi's legendary gospel quartet tradition, celebrating the music and impact of The Williams Brothers, The Canton Spirituals, and The Jackson Southernaires
