For generations, Thalia Mara Hall has stood as Jackson's premier stage—home to the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the USA International Ballet Competition, Broadway performances, community celebrations, and once-in-a-lifetime cultural moments. Its 2026 reopening represents far more than a restored building. It marks the reemergence of a venue that has shaped the cultural identity of Mississippi's capital city and the entire state.

Built in 1968 as Jackson Municipal Auditorium, the facility was renamed in 1989 to honor Thalia Mara, the visionary who brought world-class ballet to Mississippi after being invited by the Jackson Ballet Guild in 1975. Today, this 2,040-seat theater in downtown's arts and cultural district welcomes the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, International Ballet Competition performers, Broadway touring companies, graduations, conventions, and national touring acts.

Under a new co-management partnership between Visit Jackson and the Jackson Convention Complex, Thalia Mara Hall resumed hosting major events beginning January 14, 2026, supported by an aggressive booking strategy and unified sales and marketing approach.
