Sunflower Oven

Artisan Bakery + Community Cafe

752 Jefferson Street
Jackson, Mississippi 39202

Sunflower Oven is a cooperative bakery in Jackson, Mississippi.

We make bread that prioritizes people. This means our breads are sourdough, our flour is grown and stone-milled in the South, and our workers collectively own the bakery and share any profits. We offer our bread on a suggested-price basis because nutritious food is a human right.

You can visit our bakery in Belhaven Heights (752 North Jefferson Street). We are open most days with a selection of breads, pastries, and prepared foods. Find us on Saturday mornings at the Mississippi Farmers Market.

"We envision a kinder, slower world," says founder Robert Raymond. "Our drive comes from the bacchanalian joy of two people grabbing a loaf of fresh bread and ripping it apart across a table. We believe that nourishing and delicious food is a human right, and we practice radical hospitality. We reject an economy that depends on poverty, racism, and environmental destruction. We desire to be part of a community that is creative, sustainable, leisurely, and just."
