On Saturday, June 20, the Mississippi Coliseum in downtown Jackson will be decked in red, white, and blue for “United in Song: An America250 Mississippi Celebration.” The free patriotic event begins promptly at 6 p.m. to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and the voices, stories, and musical heritage that have shaped the state and nation.

Presented by BDO, United in Song is the cornerstone event of America250 Mississippi, bringing together, for the first time in state history, a volunteer choir of more than 500 voices, a live orchestra, cultural and historical vignettes, and special guests.

“We are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who are lending their talents and time to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in Mississippi,” said First Lady and America250 Mississippi Commission Co-Chair Elee Reeves. “This event is truly a once-in-a-generation moment, and we hope Mississippians from all corners of the state will join us in the capital city for the milestone celebration.”

Eventgoers can expect beloved patriotic songs, as well as nods to Mississippi as the “Birthplace of America’s Music,” throughout the two-hour program. The show will also feature a children’s choir, live band, and surprise moments that are sure to inspire Mississippi and American pride in all.

While “United in Song” is free to attend, advance ticket reservations are required through Ticketmaster or the Mississippi Coliseum Box Office. The performance is expected to reach capacity, so early ticket reservations for the June 20 event are recommended. Groups who wish to reserve more than eight tickets should contact the Box Office at 601.353.0603.
