Thigpen Honored With MLK Drum Major of Justice Award

Visit Jackson, the official destination organization for the City of Jackson, has announced its President & CEO, Dr. Rickey Thigpen, has been honored with the MLK Drum Major of Justice Award sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of MS. The award was presented to Dr. Thigpen on Friday, February 3, during a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration by City of Jackson Councilman Kenneth Stokes.

The MLK Drum Major of Justice Award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of equality, justice, and peace promoted by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The award recognizes individuals who have worked to make a positive impact in their community and have dedicated themselves to promoting the principles of justice and equality for all.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this award," said Dr. Thigpen. "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a true leader who inspired millions of people to work towards a better world. It is a privilege to be recognized for my efforts to continue his legacy."

Dr. Thigpen has been an advocate for social justice and equality throughout his career. He has been a strong voice for the community, working tirelessly to promote economic development, job creation, and quality of life for residents in Jackson and surrounding areas.
