It's a beacon, urging us to continue fostering a vibrant ecosystem where independent artists can thrive, said Dr. Rickey Thigpen, Visit Jackson President & CEO. We at Visit Jackson see ourselves as connectors, bridging the gap between passionate creators and captivated audiences. This award strengthens our commitment to collaborate with organizations like The Central Mississippi Blues Society, Visit Mississippi, and countless others who keep Jackson's music scene humming. Together, we're ensuring the beat of Jackson echoes far beyond the city limits."

JIMWEEK's ICON Awards recognize those who have significantly impacted the independent music scene in Jackson and beyond.

Jackson Indie Music Week (JIMWEEK) was founded in 2015 by Brad Franklin, Executive Director, due to his love and passion for Jackson, Mississippi, and the legacy the state of Mississippi holds as the 'Birthplace of America's Music.' JIMWEEK champions independent and undiscovered artists and celebrates the life-changing and unifying elements of good quality music by offering a platform for discovery and collaboration. JIMWEEK is known for its music events, panels, and film showcases that allow creatives to explore the depths of their imaginations and display their unparalleled talents in front of new and returning audiences. JIMWEEK debunks the myth that there is nothing to do in the capital city and highlights the power of music and community.
