Horhn Inaugural Activities Held in Jackson

The City of Jackson welcomed a new chapter in its leadership with the inauguration of The Honorable John Horhn on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. A full day of ceremonial and celebratory events marked the occasion, all taking place at the Jackson Convention Complex, located at 105 E Pascagoula Street, in downtown Jackson.

The 2025 Honorary Chairs were First Lady-Elect Lydia Gail Horhn and Mrs. Donna Barksdale. The Inauguration Committee was chaired by Dr. Juanita Sims Doty; Co-Chairs for the inaugural events and activities included The Honorable Mike Espy, Betsy Bradley, and Ermea J. Russell. The Theme of the 2025 Inauguration was: “Jackson is Ready …The Time Is Now."

The prayer breakfast embraced spiritual leaders from across the metro area with powerful messages through song, ministered by the world-renowned Mississippi Mass Choir. The events culminated during the free gala with live entertainment including Blues entertainer Willie Clayton, and three-time Grammy Award Winner, “Mr. Bad” Bobby Rush.
