Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) anticipate a significant increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming year-end holiday. The number of travelers is expected to rise into the following week of Christmas, with the highest peak travel day likely occurring Friday, December 23. The busy travel period will run through Monday, January 2, 2023.

As Jackson State University (JSU) football fans travel to Atlanta for the Celebration Bowl, the airport will see additional passenger traffic this weekend. During the entire end-of-year holiday period, the peak hours for departing passengers from JAN are between 6-8 a.m., 10 a.m. until noon, and 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. daily. As a result of substantial air service increases, flight choices and passenger volumes are at levels not seen in a decade, with volumes at or above the pre-pandemic levels of 2019 and likely above those of 2021.

This fall, JMAA announced the opening several new restaurant options on both the East and West concourses. Delicious, national, and locally-flavored cuisines are available to our travelers, along with various beverages for all ages. Hours will fluctuate around the actual holidays.

Know before you go! The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) offers convenient parking in the terminal-adjacent Garage, in the Surface lot, and in the economy long-term lot (located on the right before approaching the main terminal sections of JAN).
