Downtown Jackson Partners and Visit Jackson held a special luncheon today to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated law enforcement officers who serve and protect the City With Soul.
The Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon was held downtown at the Jackson Convention Complex (JCC) to bring together officers from the Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff's Department, and Capitol Police for an afternoon of fellowship and appreciation.
“This past year has presented unique challenges for Jackson, and our law enforcement officers have stood on the frontlines, tirelessly working to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors,” stated John Gomez, President/CEO of Downtown Jackson Partners. “Their unwavering commitment and dedication deserve our deepest respect and recognition.”
Visit Jackson implemented a Tourism Oriented Policing Strategies (TOPS) program several years ago. This program promotes visitor and citizen safety awareness while attending conventions, meetings, attractions, hotels, restaurants, and special events.
Monthly security meetings with agency representatives were held to promote a safe and secure environment for 10.2 million visitors that resulted in $840 million in direct traveler spending this past year.
“Visit Jackson is proud to stand alongside Downtown Jackson Partners in honoring these brave men and women who keep our city safe,” said Dr. Rickey Thigpen, President & CEO of Visit Jackson. “We are committed to fostering a vibrant and welcoming environment for all, and our law enforcement officers play a vital role in making that possible.”
The luncheon began with remarks from each entity. The food was catered by the JCC and a small token of appreciation was given to attendees.
