Land as Memory: Alexis Noble's The Seed You Sow Opens in Jackson March 4
February 26, 2026
Vibe Studio JXN is proud to present The Seed You Sow, an immersive installation by artist Alexis Noble, opening March 4.
Art Rooted in Legacy: The Story Behind The Seed You Sow
Supported by a grant from Sipp Culture's TBD Fund, the installation pays tribute to Black farmer, agricultural leader, and owner of Footprint Farms, Cindy Ayers Elliott — honoring her legacy of land stewardship, food sovereignty, and community empowerment. By centering Ayers Elliott's impact, The Seed You Sow explores growth through the natural elements of sky, water, sun, grass, and Southern red clay. Through layered mixed media art, Noble uses agriculture as a metaphor for personal, cultural, and communal healing — connecting ancestral knowledge with contemporary artistic expression and reinforcing the land as both memory and medicine.
What the Artist Says
"The land remembers what we plant in it. Seeds and intention," said Alexis Noble. "This work is about tending to what has been neglected, honoring those who cultivated before us, and believing in the possibility of renewal."
What to Expect When You Visit
Visitors can expect an immersive installation that encourages thoughtful engagement, prompting reflection on the seeds we plant in our personal and communal lives. Community members, collectors, and art enthusiasts are invited to experience The Seed You Sow and connect with a compelling exploration of growth, heritage, and restoration.
