Overview
The Arts Center of Mississippi presents a compelling solo exhibition by Anna Lyons — a Louisiana-raised, Jackson-based artist whose work spans painting, drawing, ceramics, and found objects. Portraits & Other Objects is a layered exploration of identity, drawing inspiration from the surrealist tradition of Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, and Hilma af Klint to create richly imagined worlds around each subject.
Lyons' portraits move beyond likeness, using the surrealist lens to reimagine who her subjects are and how they occupy space — visually and emotionally. The result is a series that feels both intimate and otherworldly, grounded in personal curiosity and artistic legacy.
