Join Women for Progress of MS in partnership with Two Mississippi Museums for a vibrant celebration of Kwanzaa on December 26, 2025! This annual event is free and open to the public, inviting everyone to come together to honor the rich cultural heritage and principles of this meaningful holiday.
Kwanzaa is more than just a celebration; it is an empowering reminder of the values that unite us as a community. Established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa celebrates African-American culture and heritage through its seven guiding principles.

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s celebration will feature a dynamic lineup, including:
- Maddrama (JSU): An exciting performance that promises to captivate and inspire.
- Joanne Bell: A renowned artist and spiritual activist whose work embodies the essence of Kwanzaa.
-Youth Leadership Institute (Dancers). Indianola MS
- Mayor John Horhn: The Mayor of Jackson, MS, will serve as our honored Griot, sharing the invaluable stories and wisdom of our community and heritage.
Together, we will create a space that not only honors our past but also ignites a passion for our future. As we come together to celebrate, we strengthen the bonds within our community and empower one another to strive for greatness through unity, purpose, and creativity.
