Overview
The Downtown Jackson Joy Spreaders 5K is a community race taking place on June 6, 2026, in the heart of Downtown Jackson to raise funds for the development of Joy Spreaders Park in the historic Farish Street District.
This event brings together runners, families, businesses, and community leaders with a shared purpose: investing in health, recreation, and positive community development. Proceeds from the race will directly support the construction of Joy Spreaders Park, a new outdoor wellness and recreation space designed to serve residents of Jackson and visitors to the Farish Street corridor.
The planned park will feature pickleball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, lighting, seating areas, and open recreation space that encourage physical activity and provide a safe gathering place for the community. The project is designed to help address growing health concerns such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and sedentary lifestyles by providing free access to outdoor exercise and recreation opportunities.
The Joy Spreaders 5K will welcome both competitive runners and community participants from across Mississippi and the Southeast. More than a race, it represents a commitment to building a healthier, more vibrant Downtown Jackson while revitalizing one of the city’s most historic cultural districts.
