A Milestone Season Celebrating American Music
As the ninth oldest continuously operating opera company in the United States and Mississippi's only professional opera company, Opera Mississippi continues its mission to entertain, educate, and enlighten through world-class performances while fostering community connection and preserving the art form of opera.
Season Opens with Intimate Art Songs
The season launches with "American Canvas: An Evening of Art Songs" on September 4, 2025, featuring beloved tenor John Christopher Adams and pianist Tyler Kemp. This intimate concert will guide audiences through evocative melodies rooted in the American spirit, while also marking the formal introduction of Opera Mississippi's new Executive Director.

Jazz Legend Henry Mancini Takes Center Stage
Duling Hall comes alive on October 27 with "An Evening with The Pink Panther: The Music of Henry Mancini." The Sam Bruton Jazz Ensemble, joined by special guests John Christopher Adams and Maryann Kyle, will perform iconic hits including "Moon River," "The Pink Panther," and "Baby Elephant Walk." This elegant celebration of the legendary American composer promises a nostalgic night full of charm.

This concert honors Juneteenth and celebrates the enduring strength of the African American community through gospel voices and soul-stirring music in a night of celebration, remembrance, and unity.
