Joe Overstreet Exhibition at Mississippi Museum of Art

The Mississippi Museum of Art presents "Joe Overstreet: Taking Flight," a major exhibition celebrating the legacy of Conehatta-born artist Joe Overstreet, known for his groundbreaking abstract paintings and civil rights activism. Visitors can expect angular, geometric canvases from the 1960s, sculptural Flight Patterns suspended in gallery space, and monumental works from his Facing the Door of No Return series. Overstreet's art offers a vivid visual journey through Black identity, American history, and the evolution of contemporary abstraction.
