Crispy Delicious: Fried Chicken in JXN

In Mississippi, we’re definitely not lacking in places to get a good fried chicken meal complete with all the fixings.

Sure, Blue Plate Wednesdays seem to be fried chicken’s starring day, but many other spots offer up the fried bird on the daily.

Rooster’s – Fondren

If you’d rather a chicken sandwich, choose from grilled or fried at Rooster’s. or go for a chicken club, chicken mushroom Swiss or chicken jalapeno sandwich.

Other chicken dishes here range from the mushroom chicken cutlet, classic chicken tenders, smothered chicken and grits, hot, hot fried chicken sandwich, fried chicken club and tomato cutlet, a pan-broiled chicken breast topped with Rooster’s famous tomato gravy.

Sugar's Place – Downtown

This tiny wing shack in the historic Farish St. district serves basic break-fast foods along with exemplary fried chicken. There’s no printed menu at Sugar’s, but if you’re looking for wings or chicken and waffles in the morning accompanied by a funky soundtrack, this is your place.

Iron Horse Grill – Downtown

While Iron Horse’s menu is extensive, it’s all delicious. And the same can be said for their Chicken Fried Chicken. Iron Horse has been around for years now and there’s a reason people keep coming back. Enjoy your fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day and finish it off with a slice of Mississippi Praline Cheesecake for dessert.

Char – Highland Village

Known for their steaks and delicious brunch, Char also serves up a delicious Country Fried Chicken dish. Served with a side of garlic cheddar grits and red onion bacon gravy, you can’t beat it. You can also find Fried Chicken on the blue-plate menu on Wednesdays. Pick two home-style sides to go along with it and your Southern comfort lunch is complete.
