Fifty years after "Misty Blue" put her at the top of the charts, Jackson native Dorothy Moore is coming home to Duling Hall for a night built entirely around the song that changed her life. On October 29, Moore takes the stage at 622 Duling Avenue for "A Fifty Year Celebration of Misty Blue," an evening honoring both the hit and the five decades of music that followed it.

From Farish Street to Malaco Records

Moore's "Misty Blue" has streamed over 5.9 million times on YouTube and 1.3 million times on Spotify, but the song is only one chapter of a career that includes 16 albums and multiple Grammy nominations. Her path started long before the charts, winning talent shows at the Alamo Theater on Farish Street, singing with the vocal group The Poppies while a student at Jackson State University, and eventually landing at Malaco Records, where "Misty Blue" was born as a soul reimagining of a song that had first lived in country music.

Still Making Music, Fifty Years Later

Moore never stopped moving between genres, carrying Rhythm & Blues, Blues and Gospel across decades of performances at festivals and corporate events alike. In 2020, she released "I'm Happy With The One I've Got Now" to rave reviews, proof her voice is still very much in motion.

The Duling Hall celebration runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with admission ranging from $45 to $50. For a city that watched a teenager from Farish Street become a soul legend, it's a chance to say thank you in person.
