2nd Annual Capital City Lights - December 2, 2022

Returning for a second year, this holiday spectacular brings the collaborative efforts of multiple organizations to the streets of Downtown Jackson to usher in a season of joy in the City With Soul!

Events

Mississippi Department of Archives and History Christmas by Candlelight Tour 2022 - 4-8 pm

Free live music, holiday decorations, and treats - Mississippi State Capitol, Mississippi Governor's Mansion, the Old Capitol Museum, Museum of Mississippi History, and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

Park and take advantage of the shuttle buses running between sites, walk or drive and come and go on your own schedule.

1 - Session Jazz Ensemble, Chambers of House and Senate will be open to enter, Offices of Speaker and Governor available to view, Capitol Gift shop will be open - MS State Capitol - 4-8 pm

2 - Possum Ridge train display, choirs, museum store open, holiday craft activity for families - Two Mississippi Museums - 4-8 pm

3 - Traditional Holiday decorations, festival holiday lighting, faux snow, Welty House set up in the Nichols Room - Old Capitol Museum - 4-8 pm | Choir 5-5:45 pm

17 - Trackless Train Rides and Photos With Santa - MS Governor's Mansion - 4 - 8 pm


7 - Musical Performances and an appearance from Santa (5-8 PM), MS Capital City Pride Block Party & HBO "We Are Here" Jackson episode watch party (8-9 PM), and more surprises! - Main Stage presented by Greater Jackson Arts Council - 8-10 pm


8 - AIA Jackson Holiday Storefront Competition Area architectural firms, interior designers, event planner, downtown businesses and more compete with magical storefront displays. Vote via QR code in each window.


10 - Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, live Christmas-themed music courtesy of the Forest Hill High School Band and students from John Hopkins Elementary School, with performances provided by cheerleaders from Boyd Elementary School and Lanier High School. Forest Hill student Aniya Bennett will perform as a soloist - City Hall - 4:45 pm


11 - The Mash Up Mini Art Exhibition and Mixer - 418 East Capitol
Featuring visual artists, performing artists and more. More details.


12 - Magnolia Sunset Markets - Heritage Building - 5-9:30 pm
Featuring a selection of vendors showcasing artistan merchandise, foods and more.

Bring your family and friends down to enjoy this interactive lighting display in one of downtown’s great pocket plazas.


21 - Featuring a cookie decorating activity, Santa's workshop and - SANTA, plus 10% off merchandise (22% off Bicentennial merch) - JXN Welcome Center - 4-8 pm


23 - 601 Studios' teachers and students performing holiday favorites in the bistro-style outdoor plaza - Arts Center of Mississippi - 5-8 pm


24 - Lights, food trucks and holiday music - Jackson Planetarium
