Where to Go for King Cake In JXN

Are you in Jackson and craving for a delicious king cake? You might get different answers from locals, but why not bring the taste of New Orleans to you?

With Mardi Gras just around the corner, it's time to indulge in the best king cakes the city has to offer. From traditional recipes to unique twists, we've rounded up the top bakeries in Jackson that serve mouth-watering king cakes

Broad Street King Cake
Broad Street

Broad Street Baking Company - Fondren

The most prolific of local king cake purveyors, Broad Street sells themed king cakes nearly year-round. But their traditional Mardi gras-inspired king cakes are only for sale during Carnival season which runs through February 13 in 2024. The bakery’s original almond cream cheese king cakes are joined by a NOLA-traditional cinnamon king cake and a savory crawfish dip variety, made with cheddar, jalapeño brioche and creamy crawfish dip filling (a 48-hour notice is required for these made-to-order cakes).

Campbell's Bakery - Fondren

A JXN-staple bakery, Campbell’s offers a full size and smaller sized, individual version of their iced-brioche king cake. Flavors are the traditional cinnamon sugar and cinnamon cream cheese, with specialty flavors pecan praline, blueberry cream cheese, apple cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese rounding out the list. Preorders are welcome to ensure your king cake.

Sunflower Oven - Belhaven Heights

Sunflower Oven's King Cake has been years in the making, and they say they've "nailed a recipe that we love." Offering classic cinnamon cream cheese, chocolate pecan, or almond frangipane fillings glazed with Louisiana satsuma icing and decorated with candied satsuma peel, their rich brioche dough is made with wheat flour 100% grown and milled in the South. It's on sale by the slice at the bakery through Mardi Gras (February 13). Order whole cakes through their website for pickup at the bakery.

PJ's Coffee - Fondren

Coffee shop PJ’s brings a taste of Louisiana to JXN with traditional king cake by-the-slice from Gambino’s. The shop has king cakes (whole or by the slice), mini king cakes (both gluten free and regular), and a ton of new king cake flavored seasonal drinks, including a King Cake Latte or creamy Velvet Ice, and a coffee blend named, you guessed it, king cake.

You can get a king cake (pre-orders only) from Nandy's Candy straight from Randazzos in New Orleans (starting 2/1). Order the Carnivale Petit Gateau from LaBrioche for pickup in Fondren. And Just Vanilla Bakes also offers king cake pastries.

In past years, Saltine featured King Cake cinnamon rolls. Elvie’s offered a Galette des Rois filled with almond cream and served with ice cream. Brent’s Drugs had a king cake milkshake and Corner Market grocery stores (Fondren, Belhaven and Maywood Mart), Kroger and Whole Foods sold king cakes, too.

Watch this space for their updated offerings in the coming weeks!
