Ask Jacksonians where to get a king cake and the answers vary. Wiseguys may say, “New Orleans” and, while fair, why not let NOLA come to you?

From authentic Big Easy bakeries to local bakeries’ own spins, let the good times roll with these JXN spots for king cake.

Broad Street Baking Company - Fondren

The most prolific of local king cake purveyors, Broad Street sells themed king cakes nearly year-round. But their traditional Mardi gras-inspired king cakes are only for sale during Carnival season which runs through February 20 in 2023. The bakery’s original almond cream cheese king cakes are joined by a NOLA-traditional cinnamon king cake and a savory crawfish dip variety, made with cheddar, jalapeño brioche and creamy crawfish dip filling (a 48-hour notice is required for these made-to-order cakes).

King Cake donut District Donuts

District Donuts + Sliders + Brew - 1121 North Jefferson Street

At District Donuts + Sliders + Brew, traditional almond king cakes, topped with almonds are brought in, made from scratch at District's home base in New Orleans.

In the Belhaven Town Center shop, District makes king cake donuts daily, filled with cream, topped with glaze and coated with colorful sanding sugar. There's even a baby perched on top!

Campbell's Bakery

A JXN-staple bakery, Campbell’s offers a full size and smaller sized, individual version of their iced-brioche king cake. Flavors are the traditional cinnamon sugar and cinnamon cream cheese, with specialty flavors pecan praline, blueberry cream cheese, apple cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese rounding out the list.

Known for their specialty bagels, cream cheeses and sandwiches, Beagle Bagel is also a go-to bakery spot for cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes – and king cakes. Traditional brioche dough is flavored cinnamon, cream cheese, strawberry and blueberry, available in the case by-the-slice or as a whole cake.

You can get a king cake (pre-orders only) from Nandy's Candy straight from Randazzos in New Orleans (starting 1/19).

In past years, Saltine featured King Cake cinnamon rolls. Elvie’s offered a Galette des Rois filled with almond cream and served with ice cream. Brent’s Drugs had a king cake milkshake and Corner Market grocery stores (Fondren, Belhaven and Maywood Mart), Kroger and Whole Foods sold king cakes, too.
