It’s a new year, which means the music scene in Jackson is ready for another round.

With live music somewhere in the Capital City almost every night in January and February, there’s something for everyone.

January 16, 23, 30 (Mondays)

The Central Mississippi Blues Society presents Blue Mondays in the main dining room of Hal & Mal’s. Get there early and have a bite before the music starts at 7 PM. ($5 cover at the door)

January 17, 24, 31 (Tuesdays)

Every Tuesday, enjoy some dinner, drinks and jazz with the Raphael Semmes Quartet in the main dining room of Hal & Mal’s (no cover).

January 18 (1st & 3rd Wednesdays)

New Bourbon Street Jazz Band in the main dining room of Hal & Mal’s. How about some gumbo or a muffaletta while you wait? 6 PM (no cover)

Jackson Indie Music Week, a celebration of Central Mississippi’s independent music scene, is a week-long series of concerts, showcases, panels, and parties, spotlighting creatives from all genres including rock, hip hop, EDM, blues, singer-songwriter, and independent film & video. Legally Blonde: The Musical – this hilarious stage take on the hit comedy film is coming to Thalia Mara Hall courtesy of Broadway In Jackson, but hurry, tickets are nearly gone! Tickets start at $25.

January 20

Sullivan's Hollow is influenced by Southern rock, alternative and 90s grunge – these guys are the pioneers of Southern Grunge. Catch them at Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $10.

January 21

The Invisible Teardrops, Die With Nature and Witchcake at Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $10.

January 27

Siblings Austin and Taryn formed their eponymous group Durry in 2020 in the depths of the pandemic. Their careers were launched by their TikTok viral track “Who’s Laughing Now,” and the nostalgic Indie-Rock duo is poised to take on the music scene. Hal & Mal’s in the Red Room. January 27

49 Winchester takes Duling Hall by storm! With its latest album, “Fortune Favors the Bold,” the Virginia-based band is ready to go with its unique brand of tear-in-your-beer alt-country, sticky barroom floor rock-n-roll, and high-octane Appalachian folk. Says Rolling Stone: “...razor-sharp guitar licks and honky-tonk swagger.” GA tickets are $15.

January 27

With their raw, high-energy sound mixed with spacey psychedelic rock, The Hangovers are on a mission to bring back rock to Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $10.

January 28

Jarekus Singleton is an exciting new young blues guitarist with melody, hooks, swagger and a strong, original voice. His lyrics are modern, personal, acutely poetic and deeply mature.” (Washington Post) See Jarekus Singleton and his band at Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $10.

January 31

Shen Yun at Thalia Mara Hall. Featuring classical Chinese dance, dynamic animated backdrops, and all-original orchestral works, Shen Yun opens a portal to 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, with deep spiritual roots and a profoundly optimistic worldview. The performance has been described as “divine... and hope[ful]. You have to see it to believe it.” Tickets start at $80.

Nightrain's tribute show to Guns N Roses has been taking the US by storm for nine years and running. Now, they’re coming to Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $12.

Arkansauce & Opal Agafia – Arkansauce is a genre-hopping, four-piece string band from northwest Arkansas, bending the rules and blurring the lines between bluegrass, newgrass, folk and Americana, with notes of country, blues, and funk. See them at Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $12.

February 15

Even 80 years after founding his famous orchestra, Glenn Miller’s music is alive and well. New York’s legendary Orchestra is touring the world and coming to Thalia Mara Hall with timeless classics like “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “String of Pearls” and “Tuxedo Junction.” Tickets start at $52.

February 17

The Stolen Faces (Nashville's Tribute to The Grateful Dead) deftly capture the spirit of the Grateful Dead, covering the band’s expansive catalog and delivering it with the sort of energy and spontaneity that might have you thinking you’re standing in the Fillmore West in 1971! Still Standing: A Tribute to Elton John is the ultimate visual and musical Elton John Tribute event with all the timeless classics! Ben “Almost Elton” Frey is referred to as the closest representation of Elton’s look and vocals on the tribute circuit. Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $10.

February 25

The Iceman Special & The Talismen – The funkadelic swamp will rain down The Iceman Special plugs in! The 4-piece outfit from New Orleans combines dirty funk and delicate groove with elements of disco and rock and roll. Martin’s Downtown. GA tickets start at $12.
