Day Trips

While your group is staying in Jackson, explore some of our neighbor sights, then head back to the capital city for a tasty meal at one of our fine restaurants.

• Drive the Historic Natchez Trace, once referred to as “The Devil’s Backbone” because it was such a treacherous trail. Mississippi Crafts Center, cypress swamp tours, and lunch at the Dupree House are among the highlights.
• Visit quaint Canton, Mississippi, just 30 minutes north of Jackson, where movies such as "My Dog Skip" and "A Time To Kill" were filmed.
• In the nearby town of Flora, you’ll find the only petrified forest in the Eastern United States.
• Take a side trip to Vicksburg or Natchez, both on the Mississippi River, where you can tour beautiful antebellum homes or try your luck at the riverboat casinos.
