February 2, 2010 -- Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau Vice-President of Marketing Receives Prestigious Public Relations Award

Jackson, Mississippi — Linda Mann, Vice-President of Marketing for the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau (JCVB), was recently awarded the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) Central Chapter Advanced Practitioner of the Year Award. Outstanding members were honored at the chapter’s January 2010 meeting.

Mann has over twenty years’ experience in tourism, where she has worked in the hotel, attractions, events, travel agency, and travel publication fields. She has served at both the state and local levels in destination marketing. With a background in the performing and visual arts, she has developed a special interest and expertise in promoting cultural tourism in Jackson and has been a contributing writer for local, regional and national publications.

“The JCVB is very proud of Linda for this professional award and accomplishment,” said Wanda Collier-Wilson, CEO and President of the JCVB. “Her knowledge of destination marketing and public relations expertise has benefited both the City of Jackson and the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau.”

Winner of a number of awards in public relations and marketing, Mann is a Mississippi Certified Tourism Professional and member of the Mississippi Tourism Association, the Metro Jackson Attractions Association, the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, the Public Relations Society of America, the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, the Institute of Interfaith Dialog, the Northminster Baptist Church Adult Choir, and Northminster Worship & Music and Prime Timers Committees.

Every year the PRAM Central Awards Committee selects three outstanding professionals from all member-submitted nominations. Judging criteria includes: outstanding achievements, on-the-job creative and resourcefulness, professional development and community services. PRAM Central Chapter, consisting of more than 200 members, is an organization of public relations professionals in the central Mississippi area who are interested in networking and learning more about the practice of public relations. Its parent organization, the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, is a statewide organization which has the same purpose.
