Jackson, Mississippi – A beautifully written restaurant review by Quincy Shelton has landed him dinner for four at his favorite Jackson restaurant, Julep, as the winner of the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (JCVB) Rave about Jackson Restaurants Contest .
The JCVB’s committee chose his restaurant “rave” review on Julep from an overwhelming response of entries to the restaurant rave contest. Julep is located in Highland Village at 4500 I-55 North, Suite 105 in Jackson.
So, why does Shelton love dining at Julep? His words simply, yet eloquently explain: “This is gourmet cooking with a southern flair. The unusual but excellent selection of food (butter bean hummus, portabella fries) will definitely be a treat to you. Their fried chicken was voted Top 10 in the nation by USA Today a few years back, and they weren’t lying. They have a selection of cake that will bring you to tears. Red Velvet, Irish Crème, Almond Wedding Cake – I can never decide which one I want. Great place to take a date, especially on the weekend when the bar scene is hopping.”
Owners Patrick and Mary Kelly were humbled by Shelton’s kind words.
“We are honored that Quincy took the time to write an enthusiastic review about Julep, but even more excited that he was chosen as the winner of this great contest,” said owner Patrick Kelly. “We take pride in Julep being a unique restaurant experience in Jackson and are always pleased to hear positive comments like Quincy’s.”
Other than winning dinner for four at Julep, Shelton’s winning review will be published on the JCVB’s website, www.visitjackson.com, the Bureau’s social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter), and in the bureau’s publications. “We are very happy for Quincy and thankful to those who submitted their restaurant rave reviews to us,” says Wanda Collier-Wilson, CEO and President of the JCVB. “The South is famous for its delicious cuisine – drawn from tables around the world and interpreted by culinary masters with a Southern flair, but few cities do it up like Jackson.”
