May 1, 2007 - Two Annual Jackson Events Named to STS “Top 20”
Two popular annual Jackson events have been named “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society: the Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza and CelticFest Mississippi.
Sponsored by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation, the Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza has won the event for the second consecutive year. This year’s extravaganza, the 21st, takes place August 3-5, at the Mississippi Trade Mart. The event, which attracts some 35,000 people annually, is the state’s largest trade show and a must-see for hunters, fishermen and outdoor sports enthusiasts of all ages,
CelticFest Mississippi, sponsored by the Celtic Heritage Society, will be held this year at the Mississippi Agriculture & Forestry Museum. The festival, in its 16th year, attracts about 7,000 people and promotes appreciation and awareness of celtic culture and arts.
To be nominated for a Top 20 Event, an event must be at least in its third year and must have a minimum attendance of 1,000. Winners are selected quarterly and the published list is sent to more than 300 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations and others, as well as 125 AAA publications. STS Top 20 Events are also published on the Southeast Tourism Society web sites at www.southeasttourism.org and www.escapetothesoutheast.com.
